President Nasheed

Time: 6pm

Prior to its national release in March, get an exclusive first look at the latest from documentary film-maker Jon Shenk. The Island President tells the story of President Mohamed Nasheed of the Maldives, a man confronting climate change to preserve his nation, one of the most low-lying countries in the world.

This aware winning film follows the president of the Maldives through his first year in office and culminates in his trip to the Copenhagen Climate Change summit in 2009.

Despite the modest size of his country, Mohamed Nasheed has become one of the leading international voices for urgent action on climate change. In fact, part of the inspiration for 10:10 was that the Maldives decided to cut100% of their carbon in ten years

The film will be followed by a Q&A / panel debate on the role films have in raising awareness on issues like climate change. We'll be joined on the panel by Lizzie Gillet (producer of the Age of Stupid), Emily James (Director of Just Do It) and Oli Harbottle (Dogwoof, distributor of social change documentaries).
