10:10 in Parliament

Ed Miliband has asked for a popular mobilisation to help to push through action on climate change. Well, we have got that. It is called the 10:10 campaign."

Martin Horwood MP
House of Commons Chamber, 6.44PM

10:10 has arrived. It’s staggering that almost ten thousand people emailed their MPs in just 48 hours to tell the politicians we need a step change in their response to the climate challenge. The British public is doing its bit, and now politicians of all stripes have started putting aside party politics to follow. You raised your voice, and 226 MPs responded by voting in favour of the motion.

In response to the 10:10 community’s actions the government have promised an extra £20m to pay for more emissions reductions from their departments. It’s not 10%, but it’s a start.

What next?

Sign up to 10:10! This incredible result goes to show that we can make a difference through sheer weight of numbers. Just imagine what we could achieve with 100,000 people all personally committed to cutting their emisions in 2010. Already signed up? Why not get ten friends to do the same?
