Did you know that the UK broke its own wind power record last month – twice!

You don't have to look far for bad news on climate change, but there are also signs of progress all around us. Renewables are on the rise, community projects are breaking through, and scientific advances are boosting the efficiency of everything from lorries to lightbulbs. Slowly but surely, it's happening

We think this is a story worth telling, and with your help we're going to give it a shot. So today I'd like to introduce you to our newest project: #itshappening.

#itshappening is all about images; visual examples of the good stuff that's going on right now. Large or small, local or global – if it's cutting carbon, it's in! Can you help us show how #itshappening in your world?

How to get involved

It's simple: find some carbon-cutting goodness, snap a picture and email it to photos@1010global.org. It can be a change you've made at home, something inspiring from the wider world – anything you think is cool and want to see more of!

We'll be publishing your amazing images on the 10:10 website, so before you hit send, make sure you've got permission to use the photo, and don't forget to include your name, location and a brief caption.

Carbon-cutting heroics should be rewarded, so we've lined up some prizes for people submitting #itshappening images. One lucky winner gets a brilliant British holiday courtesy of Sawday's Canopy & Stars, and three runners up get a Lush gift box full of sweet-smelling treasures for your bathroom. Going live on 10/10

10 October has always been a special day for the 10:10 community. In 2010, we came together for a global Day of Doing; last year we gave three promising community projects a leg-up through our Pitch Pledge Party crowdfunding event.

This year, we'll celebrate 10/10 by bringing all the best #itshappening photos together in a beautiful gallery right here at 1010global.org, showing the world that the answers to climate change are there – if we give them the support they need to grow.
