NHS Sustainability Day: 28 March 2012

The countdown has begun to the NHS sustainability day of action on 28 March. Hold the date!

We're hoping that all NHS establishments, stakeholders and supply chain partners will take part, and we're already seeing tremendous support.

We're encouraging everyone to think up their own imaginative ways to get involved, but your organisation's sustainability day could include:

  • A sustainability awareness day held on the date.
  • Pledges to change actions to become more sustainable.
  • Publicised site-based initiatives in advance of the event.
  • Non clinical and clinical actions on the day - we're hoping to get BMA/RCN & Royal College support and involvement so that all aspects of healthcare delivery are considered on the day.
  • Initiatives focussed on clinical practise, local sourcing of food, low carbon menus, procurement, travel, walk to work day etc.
  • A day of education, participation, action and fun.
  • Patient, community, supply chain and partner engagement.
We're working hard to confirm further details and prepare an event pack that will include generic event posters, pledge forms, evaluation forms (to measure carbon and consumption impact), top tips and give aways.
