Volunteers across Malaysia have been keeping themselves busy on 10:10:10 planting trees and creating cleaner forests, waterfalls and beaches as part of the Global Day Of Doing.

Today, groups from the Global Environment Centre, Selangor State Forestry Department, Sai Baba Council, Eco Warriors, universities and schools gathered in the Raja Musa Forest Reserve, to roll up their sleeves (and trouser legs) and plant hundreds of trees. People of all ages worked to rejuvenate the depleted North Selangor Peat Swamp Forest. To replace the trees that had been illegally cleared for farming activities, volunteers planted fast-growing Mahang seedlings to prevent further encroachment, fires and replenish this important carbon sink.
Elsewhere, 500 brave volunteers got soaked doing their part to clean up a polluted waterfall in the jungle. The event was organised by the group Waterfall Survivors to help raise awareness among people for their natural environment and restore the public recreational park to promote better health.
Volunteers take a well-earned break
An early-bird community gathered on the banks of the Damansara river bank at 8am to plant trees and reconnect with the environment. Meanwhile, on the idyllic beaches of Borneo the Coast 2 Coast group mobilised volunteers to clean up the two beaches most threatened by plans to build a coal-fired power plant nearby. One group in Malaysia even hosted an Extreme Challenge for 10:10:10, a healthy outdoor race with extreme sports and activities to reduce climate change. Amazing stuff!
