There must be something 10:10-flavoured in the water of the Teign Valley. This quiet part of rural Devon is home to a cluster of 10:10 signups, three of our first 10:10 schools and four fantastic events planned for Sunday, 10th October, our Global Day of Doing on climate change.
Organised by community campaign group Greener Teign, the highlight is a sustainable fashion event offering tshirt screen printing, a catwalk show, an auction of vintage garments and on-the-spot clothing customisation. It's an all-ages affair with opportunity for dressing up and getting creative.
The aim is to get local people thinking about the energy impact of the clothes they wear while picking up a new outfit and having fun.
A Teign Valley 10:10er in the making
According to organiser Mary, the key to Teign's success is the involvement of the whole community - primary schools, local businesses and veteran campaigners are all in on the act. The events planned for 10:10:10 are the latest in an impressive history of community action, but Mary hopes that the fashion show has a unique appeal to recruit a new generation of 10:10ers.
