Here at 10:10, we're of the view that cutting carbon and good business can easily go hand in hand. Which is why we're very excited about a carrotmobbing initiative planned for Sunday, 10th October, 2010, our 'Global Day Of Doing'.
A group of 10:10ers in Edinburgh are launching a 'buycott', where environmentally-sound businesses will be 'mobbed' by equally conscientious consumers.
Happily, the city's watering holes are the focus of Edinburgh's first-ever carrotmob, and in the coming weeks pubs and bars will be invited to place bids committing themselves to improving energy efficiency and reducing waste. The most ambitious pubs will be rewarded with the custom of a crowd of thirsty punters on the big day!
Organisers Cindy and Keith believe there's plenty of opportunity for more carrotmobbing events post-10:10:10, but don't think they'll be spending the day drinking - as well as sparking a green revolution within Edinburgh's pubs, they are also heading off to the New Caledonian Woodlands on 10th October to plant some trees. What's more, they'll be rewarding themselves with a low-carbon Sunday lunch afterwards.
Here at 10:10 HQ we can't help be impressed with an idea that allows 10:10-ers in Edinburgh to do something positive on the Global Day Of Doing while spending a few hours in the pub! Let us know your plans for the big day at here, and watch this space for more inspiring and intriguing 10:10:10 case studies.
