Great news – we've hit 100,000 signups. Now for the mother of all data-entry jobs.

Signing up the old-fashioned way

Signing up the old-fashioned way

Here at 10:10 we're definitely partial to a good milestone, but this has got to be my favourite so far. On Monday we found out that  10:10 has shot past the 100,000 signups mark, thanks to a lady named Sandra Antonovic.

At this point you're probably wondering a) who this Sandra person is and b) why the counter on the website seems to be stuck on 85,000 or so. Bear with me – this gets a bit strange.

Back in July the 10:10 global team partnered with an organisation called Nektarina – a three-person outfit who, led by the irrepressible Sandra, took on the formidable challenge of coordinating 24 national 10:10 campaigns in Russia and across central and eastern Europe. They set about it with incredible zeal, and were soon racking up the victories.

The next move was to recruit a crack team of 300 volunteers for a massive signup drive. Sandra and her merry band descended on the region's unsuspecting parks, supermarkets, beaches, shopping malls and small businesses, and they never stood a chance. When the dust settled they counted 16,987 new signups!

Just one tiny problem – they're all on bits of paper.

This means all these new 10:10ers' details will need to be typed up by hand – a job to make even the most hardened data-entry clerk sweat. So although we're not letting it hold up the celebrations, it's going to be a while for the website counter to catch up with reality.
