Last weekend over 400 families gathered in a park in Lefkosia, for the 'KidCulture Family Expo', the first festival of its kind for Cyprus.
Despite the scorching heat the turn out was good and the event a great success for all involved.
The festival targeted expectant and new parents as well as educators and health professionals, and aimed to encourage environmental awareness in exhibitors and visitors alike. An innovative and eco conscious show, rare for Cyprus, that incorporated carbon cutting ideas in its organisation including recycling and water saving.

Exhibitors were each provided with Onya reusable bottles and drinking water was dispensed at the venue from large containers, while local recycling coordinators GreenDot supplied recycling bins. Kids activities were held outdoors, including Capoeira, Mini Tennis and Badminton, as well as Baby and Kids Yoga, creative story telling, movement, music and art workshops. There was also facepainting by non profit organisation 'Life Motivated' whose volunteers go into children's hospitals to make them smile...

Breast feeding counsellors were also on hand, in our designated chill-out & breast feeding corner, to offer information and advice.
Exhibitors included organic produce and caterers, Montessori and Kindermusik educators, and EcoZone and Onya products.
Most of the participants signed up to 1010, and My1010 Check-Lists were disseminated to all the show's visitors! Meanwhile the latest issue of KidCulture Magazine publicises and promotes involvement in '101010'.

'Slowly, Slowly' - as the Cypriot saying goes- KidCulture is creating a little awareness and we are beginning to see a positive change in Cyprus...
