The Nepal Development Foundation (NDF) and the Global South Initiative have joined forces and are taking action against climate change.
Energy Icon of E2 Deepak Bista said: “With growing concerns of climate crisis, Nepal should guide the way towards carbon neutrality. We need to save the “lungs of the planet” to save ourselves.”
On 5th June, a cross country rally will be taking place to promote 10:10 Nepal, and to generally encourage the use of bikes and electric vehicles to reduce the carbon foot print. From one world heritage site to another, the rally will start at Kathmandu Durbar Square and go to Bhaktapur Durbar Square to raise awareness about climate change issues and our responsibility to save our planet. Orchestrated entirely by a bunch of young enthusiasts, the rally will also mark World Environment day 2010.
The participants will be a mixed bunch; from hardened cyclists to electric vehicle owners/drivers and from representatives from electric vehicle companies to keen debutants in the fight against climate change. As the rally will travel from the most happening place in Kathmandu, Basantapur Durbar square to Bhaktapur Durbar Square (two stunning World Heritage sites) and because the total distance of the rally is a whopping 22km we are confident that they will round up some avid supporters along the way. A great way to raise awareness about climate change and an unforgettable journey all rolled into one!
