RIDE. SAVE.

Cars are a major source of carbon dioxide emissions, noise and pollution which threaten our health and the environment around us. But is it possible to reduce the toxic substances emitted by cars and save money at the same time? The answer is YES! And the solution is called carpooling.

The idea is very popular in Western Europe, especially in Germany, and is also becoming more and more popular in Poland. Drivers and passengers who want to organize a shared lift advertise it on the boards in universities or in office buildings. Since March 2010 they have also had the option to join the biggest carpool community in Europe with http://www.carpooling.pl.

Carpooling.pl is the Polish version of the website Mitfahrgelegenheit.de, which was created in Germany in 2001 and is now the largest carpooling site in Europewith 1.3 million registered users and 300,000 lifts.

Using Carpooling.pl is very easy and free! Passengers and drivers contact each other directly by phone or by email to agree on the meeting points and costs. The website has many useful features, such as: choice of profile options, women only trips, data security and confidentiality, Google Maps integration, price calculator, email alert systems, ID authentication, regular journey settings, and more.

Carpooling.pl also invites internet portals, institutions and enterprises who want to engage in eco-mobility to join its Partner Program. They can download a free “Carpooling Widget” and immediately offer a carpooling service to their community.

How does carpooling help to protect the environment? If three people travel in their own cars for 100 km they create the same amount of CO2 that 9 medium sized trees absorb in one year. However if they carpool together they save 6 trees worth of CO2.

Carpooling reduces the cost of travel for both the driver and passenger. Even more, it is a great opportunity to meet new friends.
